To get the most out of your vegetable and fruit plants, sow and grow the 'cut and come again' varieties. These provide the best value as they will continue to grow once they have been harvested. You always take the older, outer part of the plant, leaving most of the plant to continue to grow so that when you come next time they will be ready to harvest again. Good examples of this are lettuce, broccoli, celery, spring onions, fennel, potatoes, kale, radishes, currants, gooseberries and rhubarb.
