Always collect seaweed when at the beach as it makes an excellent fertiliser and can be used to mulch around plants to maintain moisture during the warmer months of the year. It is a valuable yet free source of nutrition for your garden. It will eliminate the need for weeding, repel slugs and pests, enrich the soil and boost lethargic plants all at once. You may want to wash the seaweed in fresh water before applying around your plants to avoid too much salt getting into the soil. And remember do not pick growing seaweed, just collect the seaweed that washes up on the beach.
