GARDENING EXPRESS - Covid19 Latest Delivery Update

Current average dispatch times at around 5-10 working days in delivery rather than our usual times. This is due to the impacts of COVID 19 whilst we ensure we adhere to stringent government regulations for the safety of our staff, customers and suppliers.

The couriers are also really busy, but the situation is changing all the time, and we do hope to improve upon this. We therefore thank you for your patience at this time, if we are unable to improve upon this we will keep you updated with the latest developments.

Regrettably we are unable to specify exact delivery times for all orders at the moment, but we do aim to be as fast as possible. Keep in mind some plants are seasonal and will always ship when it’s the right time for them to be planted regardless.

Some orders may be split and arrive in multiple packages over several days.

We thank you for your patience at this time, and would ask you not to panic if you are awaiting a delivery and think it has been a long time. We have plenty of lovely plants, so please do not worry, there is plenty of time for them to arrive and thrive this summer.

In a normal year, our usual dispatch time is 3-5 working days for all items in stock/season, extending up to around 15 working days as a worst case scenario.

There is no need to contact us whilst waiting for your shipment to occur.

18th March 2020 - Covid-19 Corona Virus Statement

Firstly, let me start by saying that we hope you are keeping safe and well during this unbelievably challenging time for our country. Our gardens are going to be a very important respite for us throughout the times ahead. To this end, we want to reassure you that we have the stock and resources to keep you gardening.

We thank you for your loyal support, and we will continue supplying you the best quality and value plants possible. We will never seek to profit from difficult circumstances when people with limited choices may turn to us. Infact we intend to do the opposite, as we know some people that have never gardened before, and will be doing so for the first time now.

We think it is going to be essential for anyone self-isolating, who has a garden, window box or simply a few pots on the windowsill, to be able to connect with this, and enjoy it over the coming weeks ahead. Just looking at a garden is good for your mental health and well-being, and it’s great to relieve stress and anxiety too – not to mention a fantastic activity for the kids to get involved with. So with this in mind, we will be bringing you some great value offers to help you make the most of it.

There are of course concerns over the health and safety of our customers and staff in receiving our deliveries, and how we operate. So I wanted to reassure you of the following measures we have in place as a business to keep our loyal customers safe, and of course our staff protected in these challenging times. Viewing global events, our strategy around the threats of this virus started being implemented in February, and are under continual daily monitoring and review.

Firstly, as has always been the case, our staff always wear gloves when picking, packing and shipping your orders. They always practice strict washing of hands, and hygiene measures. Since last week, all of our office based staff have been working remotely from home, from customer services to tech support, and everyone else in between.

All meetings with third parties have been suspended until further notice. Obviously our nursery staff and packing team have to be on the nursery, so we instigated a ‘closed community’ strategy in early March in anticipation of the escalating situation. To protect our closed community, our staff attend work and home only, and order all their provisions online to be left safely for them, so there is no social contact. We are fortunate to have a very dedicated and loyal team, and are staffed by many full households and families, which has really helped in executing this strategy.

To protect our staff and customers further, all deliveries to our site and collections of goods are now subject to a series of strict protocols that include all drivers remaining in their vehicles, and full disinfection with industrial virucide spray of the trucks before our staff even touch and open them.

With regards to our deliveries to your door, our couriers have been instructed that they should also be wearing gloves at all times, and to leave your parcels safely for you if you are not at home. Or if you are in, to simply make you aware they are leaving them for you and sign C-19. They should not be presenting a handheld terminal for signature.

We currently have three different couriers to choose from, so should one of these experience difficulties with their service due to this virus, we will quickly be able to switch to another. Internally, the couriers have made many adjustments, as have packaging suppliers, such as dividing staff in to distanced sub-teams. So if one must isolate, only the rest of that sub-team does, rather than their entire workforce.

Strict protocols for hygiene of shared facilities exist with the aim of eliminating any risk of viral spread should anyone be a carrier.

We hope sharing these details with you assures you of our best intentions at all times for our customers, staff and suppliers welfare during this difficult period and we look forward to keeping you gardening throughout any time you may have to be isolated.

SHIPPING UPDATE 30TH MARCH 2020

Dear all,

As expected, we have experienced unprecedented levels of demand for our plants, which means we have set up additional packing and shipping for our orders at another location at a partner nursery close to our existing premises.

Whilst this is coming up to speed, we do anticipate that some orders may experience a slight delay from our target shipping time, so rather than shipping our orders out within 3-5 working days, we may take longer – this should however still be in line with the maximum shipping times (10-15 days) that we quote at present for peak periods.

We are however working tirelessly to bring this back to our normal service levels for all customers as quickly as we can. Please keep an eye on this page, as we will keep it updated with the latest news and developments.

We wish you all the best of health at this difficult time.

GARDENING EXPRESS UPDATE 7TH APRIL 2020

Dear all,

Firstly, a huge thank you for your kindness, generosity and support of our business at this difficult time – by shopping with us, not only are you supporting UK Horticulture – we are doing our utmost best to support a number of UK growers that now no longer have the traditional routes to market for their plants – many of these were facing financial ruin and staring bankruptcy in the eye – but thanks to buying from us, you’ve helped to secure their future. We’ve been able to immediately inject cash flow into these businesses and directly secured jobs in their hour of need. To this end, you are directly supporting people that would otherwise find themselves unemployed with an uncertain future – for this we thank you.

Many of you have been contacting us with concerns about your order shipments as you have noticed many other online plant nurseries have had to shut down. Thankfully, due to the measures we put in place, this has not been the case with us – many of these places do not hold and grow the stock they sell, which means many problems as supply chains crumble due to the impacts of Covid-19. We have all the stock we are selling on our nursery here in the UK when you order it.

We have however experienced unprecedented levels of demand for our plants, we have plenty, and the quality is great, to deal with this additional volume of orders we have set up additional packing and shipping for our orders at another location at a partner nursery close to our existing premises. This is at present coming up to speed, so we do anticipate that some orders may experience a delay from our target shipping time, particularly around the Easter period where couriers are offering reduced delivery service, so we would at this point thank you for your patience whilst we prepare and ship out your plants. At this time we anticipate you may have to wait up to 15 working days for dispatch. We are however working tirelessly to reduce this timeframe. Please keep an eye on this page, as we will keep it updated with the latest news and developments.

We wish you all the best of health at this difficult time. Thank you for your patience whilst we prepare and ship your order.

Keep Safe.
