Four Plant Pillar Fruit Collection - Red Pillar Raspberry - Black Tower Blackberry - Crimson Pillar Gooseberry & Golden Pillar Gooseberry
These special fruits have been selected to produce high yielding plants with the minimum of space, producing delicious tasty crops of berries on plants that are easily maintained in a pillar shape - this makes them perfect for the patio or the garden. We recommend planting each plant in the middle of an oblisk or a wigwam of canes. To maintain the shape, simply tie in shoots to the shape required and prune off any unwanted growth after harvesting fruits. These varieties have been selected for this collection as they are not only very easy to grow and high yielding, but also due to the natural upright growth. For best results use a good quality compost when planting, and feed and water regularly. Never allow container grown plants to dry out in summer, as this can effect fruiting. Your collection includes:
Red Pillar Raspberry: An extremely prolific japanese variety that produces very sweet fruits from July-August
Black Tower Blackberry: Specially selected blackberry that produces masses of fruit from August-October on thornless plants
Crimson Pillar Gooseberry: A deep red coloured sweet gooseberry with heavy yeilds from mid June
Golden Pillar Gooseberry: A green gooseberry that ripens to gold with heavy yeilds from mid June
Each plant is supplied in an approx 2 litre container, and is already trained in a small pillar shape, ready to grow on in to a larger fruitful pillar, with an eventual height of around 120-150cms with in a couple of seasons.
