Peonies (Paeonia) are a classic garden plant that no garden should be with out, they are the perfect long lived perennial for garden borders, flowering reliably every year.

Their large ruffled flowers also have a lovely fragrance. The ancient Greeks named the peony after Paeon, the physician of the Greek gods. In Chinese culture the peony is called the Emperor Flower.
