Another brilliant new Hydrangea to our range, Mega Minday is a fantastic paniculata type, following in the footsteps of the highly popular "Vanilla Fraise", "Pinky Winky" and "Limelight" varieties.
Hydrangea "Mega Mindy" is a solid, fast-growing shrub, which carries large flowers, but it does not collapse under the weight of those blooms. The height of the bush varies from between about 1. 25 and 1. 75m, it is easy to keep it compact at around 100cms tall by annual hard pruning each year before it starts back into growth after winter.
From late July and early August, Mega Mindy hydrangeas will come into full bloom. Typical of this type of plant are the large cone-shaped heads of bloom. Initially, these flowers petals are white, but they turn pinkish red in late summer and autumn. Even in mid winter, the cone-shaped silhouettes of the faded flower heads provide an attractive garden scene, especially when covered in a crisp winters frost.
Hydrangea Mega Mindy plants will thrive equally well in the sun or in a more shaded position. Moreover, they can easily withstand severe frosts and low temperatures in the winter. Like all other panicle hydrangeas, hydrangea Mega Mindy will flower on new branches. They can therefore be pruned as required in late winter, without causing any detrimental effects to summers blooming. The plants respond by producing new strong branches, resulting in a wealth of blossoms. The plant will still grow amply without pruning, but the flowers may be smaller.
