Eranthis hyemalis - Winter Aconite

The winter aconite creates a carpet of bright yellow, buttercup-like flowers in February surrounded by ruffs of fresh green leaves. Winter aconites originate from damp woodland and shady places, so they are the perfect choice for naturalising under deciduous shrubs and trees. Try combined with snow drops and crocus varieties for a continual carpet of colour through the Spring bulb blooming season. They are a welcome sight in late winter as they are one of the first into flower in the garden.
