Hedera hibernica (Irish Ivy) is a fast-growing, evergreen climber, often mistaken for or used similarly to Boston Ivy, that provides year-round screening for fences and walls. It features large, waxy, dark green leaves and is highly versatile, serving as both a vertical climber and a fast-growing ground cover

Irish or Boston Ivy will create all-year round interest and is useful for screening unsightly fences or providing ground cover over a large area. Plants can be trained and are also used to good effect as trailing plants in winter hanging baskets and plant displays.

Hedera hibernica maintains its leaves all year, unlike the deciduous Parthenocissus tricuspidata (true Boston Ivy), providing consistent, dense screening.

At Christmas ivy is traditionally brought inside to create attractive Christmas decorations and for use in festive wreaths.  Supplied at around 150-180cm (5-6ft tall) Plants.

Hints

Hedera hibernica carries many different common names in various regions of the world, from Shield Ivy, Atlantic or Boston Ivy and Irish Ivy. Be sure therefore to not confuse this plant with Parthenocissus, better known as the Virginia Creeper, which also carries the moniker of Boston Ivy in some circles.
