Aucuba japonica Variegata - LARGE - Variegated Spotted Laurel
Availability: In stock
Aucuba japonica 'Variegata' is an evergreen shrub admired for its large, lustrous dark green leaves heavily speckled with gold-ivory markings that bring year-round colour and texture to the garden. This Evergreen Japanese Spotted Laurel also produces small clusters of red-purple flowers in spring, followed by bright red berries on female plants when grown near a male pollinator. Tough, reliable, and easy to grow, it is especially suited to woodland gardens, shaded courtyards and elegant low-maintenance planting schemes.
Perfect for illuminating partly shady areas of the garden, the yellow-speckled foliage shines brightly in difficult spots where other plants may struggle. It pairs beautifully with ferns, hostas and skimmias, while also coping exceptionally well with urban pollution and salt-laden coastal air. Ideal as a colourful hedge or as a standalone specimen, plant in moist, well-drained soil in partial to full shade and trim lightly if needed to maintain shape, creating a bold and sophisticated feature that delivers structure and interest throughout the year.
Large bushy plants, supplied in approx. 4 litre containers.
