Acer palmatum 'Kotohime' - Japanese Maple

This Japanese shrub dazzles with its compact size and ever-changing foilage. In early spring, its tiny, crinkled leaves emerge in vibrant shades of croal-red and pink, softening to a lush green over the summer. In autumn, a fiery mix of gold, orange and red emerges, each leaf textured, giving the tree a bonsai-like appearance.

'Kotohime' grows slowly, making it ideal for Japanese gardens, urban courtyards, rockeries or as a statment plant in a patio container. It prefers dappled shade but will tolerate full sun, for best results, plant in moist, well-drained soil. Low-maintenance and elegant, it needs only occasional pruning to shape. Pair it Hosta, or Pieris japonica for a striking, layered display.
