Add a little sculptural charm to your home with Aeonium arboreum, an eye-catching succulent that's full of personality! With its beautifully arranged rosettes of fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves, this fascinating plant creates a miniature architectural masterpiece.

The attractive green foliage forms neat, symmetrical rosettes, with individual leaves sometimes developing delicate reddish or pinkish edges. As the plant matures, its rosettes are carried on branching, woody stems, gradually creating the appearance of a tiny, exotic tree.

Perfect for bright windowsills, sunny conservatories and stylish indoor displays, Aeonium arboreum looks wonderful displayed on its own or alongside other succulents. Its distinctive form makes it an excellent choice for adding natural texture to modern interiors.

Easy to enjoy and wonderfully characterful, this delightful succulent brings a touch of Mediterranean-inspired beauty to any plant collection.

Supplied in appox 10.5cm pots.

Aeonium arboreum belongs to the Crassulaceae family and originates from the Canary Islands, where Aeoniums are a distinctive feature of the local flora. The name Aeonium comes from the Greek word aionios, meaning 'everlasting', a reference to the long-lasting nature of its succulent foliage. Unlike many familiar succulents, Aeoniums are adapted to cooler-season growth, often slowing down during the hottest part of summer. Mature rosettes can produce impressive, cone-shaped clusters of small yellow flowers, although the flowering rosette usually dies afterwards, while other branches can continue growing.

Position Aeonium arboreum in a bright location with plenty of natural light, ideally receiving some direct morning or late-afternoon sunshine. Plant in a free-draining cactus and succulent compost, preferably with added horticultural grit or perlite to prevent waterlogging. Water thoroughly when the upper compost has dried, allowing excess water to drain away, and reduce watering during periods of slow growth or dormancy. Unlike many succulents, Aeoniums often grow most actively during the cooler months and may become semi-dormant in hot summer conditions. Feed sparingly with a diluted cactus fertiliser during active growth. Keep frost-free, ideally above 5°C, and avoid placing the plant near cold draughts or radiators. Remove any dried lower leaves as necessary and repot when the plant becomes crowded.
