Allium christophii - Star of Persia - Pack of 5 Bulbs
Availability: Out of stock
Huge globes of small, star-shaped, pinkish-purple flowers appear in summer above narrow, grey-green leaves. In bloom, these fabulous globes, up to 20cms (8 inches) across in diameter, have a lovely metallic sheen. They are a magnet for bees, and look great combined with herbaceous plants and grasses such as Sedum and Stipa. The faded flowerheads look great left in the border and are also useful for dried flower arrangements. Thriving in a sunny site, they look best positioned together in small groups among ornamental grasses, or as part of a Mediterranean scheme. Alliums look best when planted between medium-sized herbaceous plants, which help to mask the strap-like leaves that fade by the time the flowers appear.
The flowers of this Allium are also edible, making a great addition to seasonal salads.
Supplied as a pack of 5 top-quality bulbs.
