Allium Summer Drummer - Pack of 15 Bulbs

Product ref: BR23844

Availability: Out of stock

Allium Summer Drummer is a real wonder, producing huge fist-sized globes of small star-shaped, pinkish-purple flowers studded with white flashes atop tall stems around 150cms (5ft) high - these really are one to plant to impress! The blooms appear in summer above narrow, grey-green foliage.

When in flower, the blooms of these fabulous globes reach up to 20cms (8 inches) across in diameter with a lovely metallic sheen. Beneficial bees will find these Alliums a rich source of nectar; they look fantastic planted in combination with herbaceous plants such as Sedum and ornamental grasses like Stipa.

Thriving in a bright sunny spot on well-drained soil, they look best planted in groups among ornamental grasses, or as part of a Mediterranean scheme. We recommend planting Summer Drummer Alliums between medium-sized herbaceous plants, which help to mask their foliage, which tends to fade as the flowers appear.

The flowers of this Allium are also edible, making a great addition to seasonal salads.

Supplied as a pack of 15 bulbs.

The primary intended use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption.

There are thousands of different plant species that can be consumed, and our extensive range is no exception. We have conveniently listed a large number of edible plants here. Additionally, we have compiled several articles and handy recipes for some of the plants you are less likely to find in supermarkets.

We always recommend conducting your own research before consuming any plant to understand the various ways different varieties can be prepared and consumed. Be mindful of potential allergies when trying anything new and ensure it is suitable for all who may be consuming it.

Some plants or varieties can also be cultivated as animal feed for livestock, such as poultry, game, and livestock reared for consumption. Again, we advise doing your own research to select the most appropriate plants for your livestock.
