Aralia elata - Japanese Angelica Tree

This gorgeous deciduous shrub has really interesting foliage, with light green bipinnate leaves.It is a large shrub and can even grow into a small, open tree reaching up to ten metres. Big displays of tiny, cream flowers appear in late summer through to autumn; after the flowers, the foliage gives you some beautiful autumn colour. 

This tree enjoys a sheltered, partially shaded spot in a west or east-facing garden. It will thrive in moist but well-drained loamy or sandy soil, but it will tolerate a range of soils. This is a great choice for a tree and shrub border.
