Arbutus unedo ‘Mercurius’ is a stunning evergreen shrub or small tree that brings year-round beauty to any garden. This compact variety of the classic Strawberry Tree features glossy, deep green foliage, with new leaves emerging in rich shades of red, creating a striking contrast. In autumn, clusters of delicate, bell-shaped, creamy-white flowers bloom, reminiscent of lily-of-the-valley, attracting pollinators such as bees.
These are soon followed by its signature strawberry-like fruits, which mature from yellow to vibrant red and persist into winter, offering a spectacular display. Its slow-growing, manageable size makes it perfect for smaller gardens, urban spaces, or as a striking patio specimen. Resilient and low-maintenance, ‘Mercurius’ is an excellent choice for year-round structure and seasonal interest.
