Aucuba Rozannie - Japanese Laurel

 A handsome, evergreen shrub, Aucuba ‘Rozannie’,  is prized for its glossy, deep green foliage and clusters of red berries that bring colour and interest through autumn and winter. Unlike many aucubas, this variety is self-fertile, meaning it reliably produces berries without the need for a pollination partner. Its bold leaves and naturally bushy habit make it an excellent choice for adding structure, shine and seasonal appeal to shaded parts of the garden.

This Japanese laurel thrives in partial to full shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil, tolerating urban conditions and poor soils with ease once established. It works particularly well alongside other shade-loving plants such as Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’ or Sarcococca confusa for winter fragrance. To maintain the plant, simply remove any damaged or wayward stems in spring to keep it neat, as it requires very little pruning and is otherwise low-maintenance and reliable year-round.
