Beetroot Plant 'Cylindra'

Product ref: VEG28796

Availability: In stock

Beetroot plants are a true favourite among home gardeners due to their easy-growing habit, dependable performance, and ability to deliver excellent-quality crops in even modest garden spaces. An exceptional variety from our hand-picked collection, 'Cylindra' boasts distinctive, elongated crimson roots that are ready to harvest from mid-summer onwards. The upright foliage remains productive throughout the growing season, providing an ornamental touch as well as edible young leaves. Perfect for roasting, slicing and pickling, but also amazing when planted in traditional vegetable plots or decorative raised beds, these plants are truly versatile.

Thriving in a sunny position, although tolerating light shade, 'Cylindra' prefers fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil and benefits from a sheltered growing location. Regular watering during dry spells helps maintain tender, evenly sized roots, while minimal maintenance is required beyond occasional weeding. Harvest young roots for sweet baby beetroot or allow them to mature for larger crops suitable for storage. Companion planting with nasturtium and lavender can help deter common pests while making efficient use of growing space.
