English Marigold - Calendula officinalis 'Porcupine Yellow' - In Bud & Bloom
Calendula officinalis 'Porcupine Yellow' produces eye-catching, fully double blooms packed with slender, quilled petals in luminous golden-yellow shades from late spring through autumn. Its unusual flower form adds texture and interest to borders, cottage gardens and cutting patches, while the nectar-rich blooms attract bees and other beneficial insects. The edible petals are ideal for adding colour to salads and summer dishes.
This easy-care variety flowers continuously with very little maintenance. Plant in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil for the best display. Regular deadheading will encourage a longer flowering season and keep plants looking tidy, although allowing some blooms to set seed may result in natural self-seeding the following year. Water during prolonged dry spells, particularly when grown in containers, and avoid overly wet or poorly drained soils. A light feed during the growing season can help promote even more blooms. Pair with Nigella and Eschscholzia for a vibrant cottage garden combination full of colour and pollinator appeal.
Supplied in approx 1 litre containers.
