Centaurea cyanus ‘Black Ball’ is a dramatic cornflower variety producing rich, velvety blooms in deep burgundy-black shades throughout summer. The striking flowers create exceptional contrast within borders and are highly valued for both fresh and dried flower arrangements.
Perfect for cottage gardens, prairie-style plantings and cutting gardens, ‘Black Ball’ looks stunning paired with pale pink poppies, white flowers and ornamental grasses. This robust annual is easy to maintain and thrives in sunny locations with well-drained soil. Deadheading encourages a longer flowering period, while occasional watering during dry spells keeps plants performing at their best. Allow some flowers to set seed for natural regeneration the following year.
