Chilli Pepper Plant 'Joe's Long Cayenne'
Availability: In stock
Chilli peppers are highly rewarding vegetable plants, producing abundant crops of colourful fruits that add flavour and heat to countless dishes. Chilli Pepper 'Joe's Long Cayenne' is a classic variety bearing long, slender green fruits that ripen to bright red from late summer into autumn. Typically reaching 20cm+ in length, the chillies are packed with fiery flavour and are ideal for drying, slicing or adding to sauces. Compact yet productive plants grow to near 1m tall. Perfect for greenhouses, raised beds and vegetable patches, this variety suits both contemporary and cottage-style gardens.
Thriving in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil and a warm, sunny, sheltered position, 'Joe's Long Cayenne' flourishes in consistently warm conditions. Plant into rich soil after frost risk has passed and water regularly during dry periods, avoiding waterlogging. Feed frequently with a high-potash fertiliser to support flowering and fruit development, and remove any damaged growth as required. Harvest fruits once they have developed their full red colour and feel firm, ensuring the strongest flavour and heat.
Supplied in approx. 9cm pots.
