The sunny chilli that brings a smooth kick and flavour, Capsicum annuum 'Kristian', is an attractive and productive variety that is valued for both its delightful colour and approachable heat. The slender, slightly curved fruits grow to around 9-12cm in length, starting from green and maturing to a bright yellow in the earlier months of summer. With a medium heat of around 50000 Scoville units, they offer warmth that is ideal for many cooked dishes.
Make sure to plant in fertile, moist, but well-drained soil in a warm and sunny position to encourage strong fruiting. Water regularly and feed consistently throughout the growing season to maintain vigour, with light pruning if needed. A great choice for home growers, particularly suited to early harvesting, providing a steady supply of chillies earlier in the season.
