The authentic chilli for rich, aromatic dishes, Capsicum annuum 'Mirch Masala' is a traditional variety originating from India, loved for its flavourful heat and culinary versatility. The long, slender fruits grow to around 8-12cm in length, starting green and maturing to bright red from mid to late summer. With a Scoville heat rating of 30000-50000 units, they can work well in curries, stir-fries, or when dried.
Plant in fertile, moist, but well-drained soil in a warm and sunny position to ensure a big harvest. Water and feed consistently throughout the growing season, with occasional harvesting to promote continued production. A superb choice for home growers, particularly valued for its suitability for drying and creating fresh chilli powders and spice mixes.
