Chlorophytum Hawaiian - Variegated Spider Plant

Product ref: H29007

Availability: In stock

Chlorophytum 'Hawaiian' puts a fresh tropical spin on the much-loved Spider Plant. Its long, arching leaves combine rich green edges with lighter lime and creamy-yellow striping through the centre, creating a bright, layered look that becomes even more attractive as the plant fills out.

Naturally neat and bushy, 'Hawaiian' forms a fountain of gently cascading foliage that brings greenery to the home without demanding lots of space. As mature plants develop, they can send out slender trailing stems carrying small white flowers followed by baby plantlets, giving you that classic Spider Plant cascade.

Perfect for a shelf, desk, kitchen or bright bathroom, this is an excellent choice when you want plenty of leafy impact with relatively little fuss. Display it alone for a clean contemporary look, or mix it among other houseplants for an instant indoor jungle feel.

Plant supplied in an approx. 12cm pots.

Position Chlorophytum 'Hawaiian' in bright, indirect light to encourage healthy growth and attractive leaf colouring, although it will also tolerate some shade. Grow in a good-quality, free-draining houseplant compost and water when the surface begins to feel dry, allowing excess water to drain away fully. Avoid keeping the roots constantly soggy. Feed with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser every few weeks during spring and summer, reducing both feeding and watering in winter. Normal household temperatures suit it well, but keep it away from cold draughts. Repot when the roots become crowded, and trim away any tired or damaged leaves to keep the plant looking its best.

Spider Plants have a particularly fun way of reproducing. Mature plants produce long, arching stems carrying little plantlets, often nicknamed "spiderettes". These miniature plants can develop their own roots and are easily potted up, so one established Spider Plant can soon become the start of a whole family.
