Dahlia ‘Hercules’ is a bold, large-flowered decorative variety, showcasing impressive blooms in rich apricot-orange with a deep coloured centre. This one really lives up to the name! Its broad, gently curled petals form a full, rounded flowerhead that brings dramatic volume and warmth to garden borders, beds, and statement containers. Strong, upright stems support the heavy blooms, making it an excellent choice for cutting. Simply harvest when flowers are fully open to enjoy their vibrant presence indoors.
‘Hercules’ flowers prolifically from midsummer until the first frost, offering powerful colour and structure throughout the season. Plant in full sun in well-drained, fertile soil, and remove spent flowers to encourage more growth.

Supplied as tubers, the best time to plant is in April and May. To plant them, dig a hole at least 20-30cm square and around 20-30cm deep for each one. Cover the base of the hole with 10cms of compost, or manure and give it a good dousing with a full watering can and then plant the dahlia at a depth of 15-20cms. You will need a stout stake, not just a bamboo cane, to support each plant and it is a good idea to knock this in first and then place the plant by its side. It will need to be lifted in winter - once the foliage dies back simply dig it up and store in a cool, frost free location.
