Dahlia ‘My Hero’ is a bold dinnerplate decorative variety, featuring large, fiery crimson-red blooms with playful white streaks that create a dynamic and dramatic display. The slightly twisted, pointed petals give each flower movement and flair, making it a showstopper in borders and standout containers. Ideal for cutting, these oversized blooms make a striking statement in floral arrangements, cut just as they open for maximum impact.
Flowering from midsummer until the first frost, ‘My Hero’ brings power, personality, and vivid colour to any garden. Plant in full sun in well-drained, fertile soil, and remove spent flowers to encourage more growth.

Supplied as tubers, the best time to plant is in April and May. To plant them, dig a hole at least 20-30cm square and around 20-30cm deep for each one. Cover the base of the hole with 10cms of compost, or manure and give it a good dousing with a full watering can and then plant the dahlia at a depth of 15-20cms. You will need a stout stake, not just a bamboo cane, to support each plant and it is a good idea to knock this in first and then place the plant by its side. It will need to be lifted in winter - once the foliage dies back simply dig it up and store in a cool, frost free location.
