Delphinium Blue Jay

The beautiful perennial delphinium 'Blue Jay' is prized for its vivid blue blooms, which form a dramatic display from early to mid-summer when they cluster along tall spikes. This cultivar is a great option for adding architectural height to flower borders' backs or as a focal point in cottage gardens because it can grow as high as 150cm.

Its appearance is given depth and fascination by the contrasting white bee (centre) that highlights the deep blue of its blossoms. Plant 'Blue Jay' in rich, well-drained soil in a sunny area that gets some shadow to preserve the vivid colours of the flowers. Its tall, thin stems need to be staked, especially in windy conditions.
