Echinacea purpurea 'Double Decker'
Availability: Out of stock
A very unusual and striking perennial, Echinacea 'Double Decker' is distinguished by its unusual two-tiered bloom structure. Coneflowers typically bloom in the first year, but starting in the second year, they produce an interesting second layer of tiny, upright petals on top of the core cone. Soft pink in colour, the flowers bloom from mid-summer to early autumn, drawing bees and butterflies to the garden.
This resilient plant, which may grow up to 90 cm tall, does best in full sun but will tolerate little shade as long as the soil drains well. "Double Decker" looks well as a focal point in a pollinator-friendly garden setting, in mixed borders, or in wildflower gardens. For a striking show, combine it with other late-summer blooms like salvia or rudbeckia.Â
