Echinacea purpurea ‘Sensation Coral’ gives the much-loved coneflower a deliciously warm twist. Its large, daisy-like blooms open in rich coral-pink, with petals surrounding prominent coppery-orange central cones. As the flowers mature, subtle variations in their colouring give a group of plants an especially lively, natural appearance.

Compact and well branched, ‘Sensation Coral’ delivers plenty of flower power without becoming cumbersome. It is brilliant for adding a splash of warm colour to sunny perennial borders, gravel gardens and prairie-style schemes, particularly alongside ornamental grasses, salvias and other late-summer favourites.

The flowers are also excellent for cutting, while those left in the garden provide a valuable nectar source for visiting pollinators. With a long summer display and strong garden presence, this is an easy way to turn up the colour without sacrificing a relaxed, natural feel.

Supplied in approx. 2 litre containers.

The name Echinacea comes from the Greek word echinos, meaning hedgehog or sea urchin, a wonderfully appropriate reference to the plant’s distinctive spiky central cone. Those cones remain attractive even after the colourful petals have faded, giving coneflowers an extra season of interest.

Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Echinaceas cope well with periods of dry weather once established, but newly planted specimens should be watered regularly while their roots develop. Avoid wet, waterlogged ground, particularly during winter. Deadhead faded blooms to encourage further flowering, or leave some seed heads standing into autumn and winter for their attractive structure and potential value to seed-eating birds. Cut old stems back in late winter or early spring as fresh growth begins. Container-grown plants will need more regular watering and an occasional feed during the growing season.
