Eschscholzia Californica 'Thai Silk Apricot Chiffon' - California Poppy

Product ref: P28798

Availability: In stock

Eschscholzia (also known as California poppies) is a rare summer poppy native to North America. Treasured for their magnificent shape and colour, our quality, established annuals are perfect for mixed borders, garden edges and cottage beds. 'Thai Silk Apricot Chiffon' produces elegant cup-shaped blooms in soft apricot, peach and creamy yellow tones, creating a warm pastel display throughout summer. The silky flowers sway gently above finely divided blue-green foliage, attracting pollinators and adding movement to planting schemes. California poppies have traditionally been used in herbal remedies, and their petals are sometimes used as edible decorative garnishes.
Growing to approximately 25-35cm in height and spread, this compact, bushy variety is exceptionally easy to grow and thrives in sunny, well-drained positions. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires very little maintenance beyond occasional watering during prolonged dry spells. Deadheading spent flowers can encourage an even longer flowering season, although allowing some seed heads to develop may result in natural self-seeding for future displays. Pair with nigella and cosmos for a colourful, wildlife-friendly cottage garden display.

Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.

The primary intended use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption.

There are thousands of different plant species that can be consumed, and our extensive range is no exception. We have conveniently listed a large number of edible plants here. Additionally, we have compiled several articles and handy recipes for some of the plants you are less likely to find in supermarkets.

We always recommend conducting your own research before consuming any plant to understand the various ways different varieties can be prepared and consumed. Be mindful of potential allergies when trying anything new and ensure it is suitable for all who may be consuming it.

Some plants or varieties can also be cultivated as animal feed for livestock, such as poultry, game, and livestock reared for consumption. Again, we advise doing your own research to select the most appropriate plants for your livestock.
