Product ref: DEAL176344

Availability: In stock

Fargesia ‘Volcano’ is a compact, clumping umbrella bamboo that combines elegant structure with eye-catching colour. Growing to around 150–200cm tall, this medium-sized bamboo features masses of fine, narrow green leaves on gently arching canes, giving it a soft, graceful presence perfect for modern, oriental, or wildlife-friendly gardens. Its most striking feature is the colour of the young canes, which emerge in beautiful shades ranging from orange-red to crimson-plum before maturing to a subtle olive green. This unusual colouration adds a bold and decorative twist to traditional bamboo, creating year-round interest and texture.

Fargesia ‘Volcano’ is completely non-invasive, making it an excellent choice for planting directly into the garden or in large planters. Its vertical habit and dense foliage make it ideal for use as a natural screen or informal hedge, while its elegant form also shines when planted as a single specimen or in groups.

Easy to grow and low-maintenance, it thrives in a wide range of soils and prefers a position in partial shade to full sun. It stays lush and green throughout the year, bringing movement and structure to your outdoor space even in winter.

Use near water features or in Far Eastern-themed gardens for maximum effect, and pair beautifully with Japanese Maples for a refined and harmonious planting scheme. One of our most popular ornamental bamboos, Fargesia ‘Volcano’ offers year-round beauty, architectural form, and a unique splash of colour – all without the worry of spreading.

Supplied in approx. 10-12 litre containers at up to around 150-200cm tall inclusive.
