Foeniculum vulgare 'Smokey'
Foeniculum vulgare 'Smokey', also known as Smokey Fennel, is an elegant perennial herb prized for its fine, feathery foliage in smoky bronze and purple-grey tones. This graceful, upright variety brings height, movement and dramatic texture to borders, with its delicate fern-like leaves creating a soft, airy effect throughout the season. In summer, clusters of tiny golden-yellow flowers rise above the foliage, attracting bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. The aromatic foliage carries a sweet scent, while the seeds can also be harvested for culinary use. An excellent choice for prairie-style planting, wildlife gardens and mixed herbaceous borders.
Best grown in moist, well-drained soil and full sun. Ideal for cottage gardens, herb gardens and naturalistic planting schemes. Cut back after flowering to encourage fresh growth and maintain a tidy habit. Remove seed heads if you wish to prevent self-seeding.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
