Halloween Berry Bush

This one is perhaps better known to some as the Winter or Christmas Cherry, although of course they are not edible! For many years they were usually grown and used for decoration at this time of the year, around the festive period. But today, thanks to the bright orange colours, and the association of bright orange pumpkins with Halloween, they've become well associated with this earlier period of the year too.

Used as a seasonal decoration, indoors or out, they are frost sensitive, so better for a sheltered patio spot, or just inside to be safe. They will usually hold their berries until the new year, then if you cut them back, you can even plant out in the garden in spring and they will grow back in to a larger bush!

All in all a very attractive seasonal plant, even if just used as seasonal windowsill or coffee table decor!
