Prunus laurocerasus Szofi (Sofia) - Hardy Dwarf Evergreen Laurel

A compact growing baby of the laurel family, Sofia is an award winning introduction with narrow serrated leaves and fantastic compact growth. This makes it very easy to prune and shape as required, be it as a hedge, sphere, cone or simply kept as a shrub.

With amazing heat and cold tolerance, Sofia will stand hot summers and is heat resistant to 38 degrees Celsius - bright sunlight intensifies the deep green colouration of Sofia. In winter, she will survive in -25 degrees, without sustaining any frost damage, a pretty amazing range of temperature tolerance. When the frost does settle on the edges of the leaves, sofia looks like she is showered with fine diamonds.

She is very pretty and very adaptable, the compact foliage is much more attractive than any other laurel.

After 5 years Sofia can each a height of around 1.5m (5ft), and well grow well on virtually all soils other than shallow chalk.
