Allium christophii - Star of Persia

Create a stunning display with Allium christophii, often known as the Star of Persia. In early summer, this beautiful decorative onion produces huge, spherical flower heads full of dozens of star-shaped, metallic lilac blossoms. Growing to a height of up to 45cm, its structure makes it a focal point in borders, gravel gardens, and cottage-style planting schemes.  

Plant in well-drained soil that receives full sun to partial shade. Allium christophii grows well in dry settings and is drought resistant once established. Allow the leaves to fade naturally before pruning to promote vigorous blooms the next year. Combine with ornamental grasses, Nepeta (Catmint), or Salvia to create a natural, pollinator-friendly landscape.

The flowers of this Allium are also edible, making a great addition to seasonal salads.
