Abelia Grandiflora

Abelia grandiflora is a very useful, long-flowering, semi-evergreen shrub that is ideal for a mixed shrub or herbaceous border where it will add a little extra structure. With attractive, glossy, deep green foliage that it hangs on to for most of the year on arching branches, it is perfect towards the back of the border or against a wall, and is ideal for a cottage-style garden.

In summer, it produces masses of small, fragrant, pink-flushed, bell-shaped flowers all over the arching branches; these continue throughout the summer and well into Autumn. For best results, plant in full sun in moist but well-drained soil.
