These trees are monsters - we have to deliver them on pallets due to the size!
Plant these in large containers in a sun drenched cortyard, and all you'll need to complete your own Tuscan terrace at home will be a nice glass of Chianti!
They are of course equally suitable to plant direct in to the ground in the garden, thriving in a well drained bright spot.
Elegant, grey-green leaves are retained all year and tiny, fragrant, creamy-white flowers are followed by edible, green fruits. An investment in a well established Olive tree such as this will offer an immediate, and impressive, impact.
They are excellent for a sunny, Mediterranean-style garden. Slow-growing with a nice stem and attractive silvery leaves, you may well have admired Olive trees on your holidays - but with these, they can now be admired at home. This Olive flowers during the Summer with ample green edible fruit appearing in the Autumn, ripening to black. The fruit is of normal size and the tree will last many years - they can infact grow to a ripe old age in to the hundreds of years old! Each year these Olive trees will produce more and more succulent fruit, especially if you can afford a nice bright sunny position, ideally sheltered from cold winter winds. If container growing, a place in the conservatory over winter would be even better, or sheltered against the house, where it will benefit from the warmth and shelter provided by a wall.
The olive tree is a symbol of abundance, glory and peace. 'Extending the olive branch' dates back to the first Olympic games in 776 BC and was awarded to the winners, symbolizing the armistice of any hostility and the peace! Perhaps we should be sending these out today to a few different people! It's the perfect gift for those who deserve an apology. These particular trees have a clear truck and can be clipped to form a neat rounded crown or allowed to grow larger and more naturally in a true 'Tuscan' style - the choice is yours.
