Plant these in very large containers in a sun drenched cortyard, and all you'll need to complete your own Tuscan terrace at home will be a nice glass of Chianti!
They are of course equally suitable to plant direct in to the ground in the garden, thriving in a well drained bright spot.
Elegant, grey-green leaves are retained all year and tiny, fragrant, creamy-white flowers are followed by edible, green fruits that ripen to black. An investment in a well established Olive tree such as this will offer an immediate, and impressive, impact, and with good care likely outlive the owner. Over time they get bigger and better and more characterful as the trunk developes knarled bark.
They are excellent for a sunny, Mediterranean-style garden. Slow-growing with a nice stem and attractive silvery leaves, you may well have admired Olive trees on your holidays - but with these, they can now be admired at home. This Olive flowers during the Summer with ample green edible fruit appearing in the Autumn, ripening to black. The fruit is of normal size and the tree will last many years - they can in fact grow to a ripe old age into the hundreds of years old! Each year these Olive trees will produce more and more succulent fruit, especially if you can afford a nice bright sunny position, ideally sheltered from cold winter winds. If container growing, a place in the conservatory over winter would be even better, or sheltered against the house, where it will benefit from the warmth and shelter provided by a wall.
