Hamamelis Aurora - Witch Hazel - LARGE
Hamamelis 'Aurora', commonly known as Witch Hazel, is a stunning deciduous shrub renowned for its vibrant, fragrant winter blooms. From mid to late winter, it bursts into life with clusters of spidery, bright yellow to orange flowers with a hint of red at the base, creating a warm, golden glow against the bare branches. The crinkled, ribbon-like petals bring texture and cheer to the garden during the colder months. In autumn, the broad, oval green leaves turn spectacular shades of yellow and orange, adding another season of interest.
This hardy, low-maintenance shrub thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil and enjoys full sun to partial shade. Minimal pruning is needed – simply remove any dead or damaged wood after flowering. Plant as a standalone specimen or in mixed borders, and pair with evergreen shrubs like Mahonia or early flowering bulbs like Crocus for a vibrant winter display.
Supplied well branched, covered in buds in season, in approx 7-10 litre containers.
