Hamamelis x intermedia 'Rubin' - Red Witch hazel

This much loved witch hazel carries clusters of spidery flowers in a rich shade of ruby-red, on its bare winter stems, and has to be one of the best deciduous shrubs for the winter garden. Like all the witch hazels, it has a wonderful perfume and will fill the surrounding air with a beautiful fragrance.

Hamamelis such as Rubin will make a lovely specimen shrub for a partially shaded spot, or even the edge of a woodland garden.In the Autumn it will also put on a fantastic show of firework colours as the foliage transitions from green to orange, red, yellow and all shades between before it finally falls to reveal the flower buds forming for the winter period. Once established, why not cut a few stems for a vase indoors too and enjoy its winter perfume in the house too.
