Helleborus orientalis Pretty Ellen Spotted - Hellebore

This beautiful variety of hellebore has pretty flowers with a lovely soft golden centre. 

The stunning, pendent to outward-facing, saucer-shaped flowers appear from February to April above leathery, deep green leaves. This is a wonderful lenten rose variety and the flower colour is extremely unusual as well as beautiful.

Hellebores look particularly good when planted with Spring flowering bulbs such as narcissi and hyacinths. Like all Hellebores, it is a great ground cover plant for areas of dappled shade under deciduous trees and shrubs.

The leathery, evergreen leaves that provide all year round interest can be cut back in late Winter, to really show off the flowers to maximum effect. Wonderful planted in a container, or as part of a border mixed in with ferns or hostas. Grows best in a part shady spot and like all hellebores, prefers a heavy soil.
