Hibiscus syriacus 'Purpureus Variegatus' is a truly unique and eye-catching shrub, prized for both its richly variegated foliage and its charming, double purple-pink blooms. From mid to late summer, ruffled, peony-like flowers appear among creamy-white and green marbled leaves, bringing a touch of the exotic to borders or patio containers. Even when not in flower, its striking foliage keeps it looking attractive throughout the growing season.
Thriving in well-drained, fertile soil and a sunny, sheltered spot, this hardy deciduous shrub is low-maintenance and ideal for adding late-summer colour. Prune in early spring to maintain shape and encourage strong flowering. Plant with Lavatera or Caryopteris for a long-lasting, late-season floral display in sun-drenched borders.
