Hollyhock Happy Lights - Alcea Plants

A gorgeous selection of large, open-flowered traditional cottage garden hollyhocks, these plants are a must-have for your summer borders. The mix of tall, pastel-coloured flower spikes attracts beneficial pollinators while the cheerful blend of colours adds height, movement and a traditional charm, perfect for a welcoming garden filled with long-lasting seasonal interest. The blooms are borne on tall stems up to 2 metres tall, with large, deep green, rounded leaves. 

Ideal for the back of sunny borders, against walls or fences, or woven through cottage garden and wildlife planting schemes, 'Happy Lights' thrives in a sheltered, sunny position. Its stately spires will rise in excess of 6ft tall on established plants in fertile soils, offering a display that will stop you in your tracks. These plants may benefit from staking in exposed gardens, while removing spent flower spikes helps maintain a tidy display and encourages healthy growth. Very versatile plants, they are able to grow in any soil type as long as it is fertile and well-drained.
