Indigofera heterantha - Himalayan indigo

Product ref: S25278

Availability: In stock

Commonly referred to as the Himalayan indigo, Indigo heterantha is an incredibly popular shrub much loved for its late-summer flowers and ornate leaves. This deciduous shrub is native to the dry slopes of the Himalayas and as a result is the perfect addition to any sunny border. Light green delicate pinnate leaves are born on reddish brown stems from Spring to Autumn and contrast beautifully with the bright pink-purple flowers that bloom on erect 10-15cm stems, from summer to autumn. Reaching between 2-3m in both height and spread if left unprunned, the Himalayan indigo is well-suited to the back of a boarder or planted as a specimen. It is often planted alongside Buddleias as its nectar rich flowers attract many bees and butterflies.

Plant Himalayan indigo in full sun in moist but well-drained soil. It is best suited to a sheltered area but is resilient to colder temperatures. A versatile shrub it can grow in virtually any soil.

Supplied in approx. 3 litre containers.
