Iris reticulata J.S. Dijt is a rich and regal variety that blooms in early spring, providing much-needed colour after the winter months. Its deep velvety purple petals are delicately patterned with golden-yellow spots, producing a striking contrast which works well in rock gardens, containers, and at the front of borders.

Plant the bulbs in a sunny location with well-drained soil. These compact irises thrive in gritty or sandy soils and require little maintenance. Once the flowers have finished blooming, allow the leaves to die naturally to strengthen the bulbs for the next year. Deadheading is not essential because these irises usually fade beautifully on their own.
