Kochia trichophylla - Burning Bush
Availability: Out of stock
Kochia trichophylla, the burning bush is a lovely ornamental annual plant with beautiful fine, lush green foliage that turns dark crimson to blood-red in the autumn.
If you are seeking to see something a bit different from ordinary autumn colours, this could be the perfect choice.
It is a quick growing plant that forms rounded pyramid of dense fine leaves and branches. Kochia are bright green to start with, so sometimes referred to as 'Summer Cypress', but it is the 'Burning Bush' name that comes to pass with the brilliant autumn colour. The thin, finely cut leaves of Kochia are ornamental in their own right, before this bright colouring appears.
Growing in virtually all soils, it is a useful plant in landscapes when used en-mass, or perhaps try as centre pieces in patio plants, and accents in garden beds and borders.
It is so well loved in Japan, that they plant a whole hillside with it in one of their top tourist spots (check the images) - the view is tremendous, three hundred and fifty hectares planted with 32,000 Kochia balls is absolutely breath taking. Perhaps find room for just one or two in your garden!
Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers, these are lovely bushy plants.
