Ilex crenata Golden Gem - Evergreen groundcover

Ilex crenata plants are versatile, evergreen shrubs originating from Japan and China. 'Golden Gem' is especially unique as it offers golden-yellow foliage while having a dense, compact habit perfect for low-hedging and groundcover. Subtle white flowers appear in spring, followed by tiny dark berries in autumn, adding gentle seasonal interest. 

Perfect for formal gardens, borders, containers and Japanese-style planting schemes.

Pair with darker evergreens such as box or yew for a stunning structural display. Plant in well-drained soil and trim lightly to maintain a tidy shape. Excellent ground cover plant growing up to 60-80cm tall and 90cm+ wide. Ideal in any position.
