Lunaria annua (biennis) - Alba

Lunaria annua 'Alba' is a graceful and elegant biennial producing clusters of pure white, four-petalled flowers from late spring to summer. Held above fresh green foliage, the blooms create a luminous display that brightens borders, cottage gardens and woodland-style plantings. A magnet for pollinators, the flowers are followed by the plant's famous translucent, silvery seed pods, often known as Honesty, which provide outstanding ornamental interest well into autumn and are highly prized for dried flower arrangements.

'Alba' is easy to grow and often self-seeds gently in favourable conditions, creating natural drifts over time. Allowing some flower heads to develop seed pods will extend the season of interest and encourage future displays, while spent plants can be removed once seeds have ripened. Plant in full, fertile, well-drained soil for the best performance. Pair with foxgloves and hardy geraniums for a charming cottage garden display rich in colour, texture and wildlife appeal.
