Mahonia aquifolium Volcano

Mahonia aquifolium 'Volcano' is an evergreen shrub supplied in a 1.5L pot. Mahonia 'Volcano' provides a sturdy and very attractive evergreen shrub, full of colour and texture, all year round to a garden. This variety carries spikes of yellow flowers, which literally 'explode in a volcano' from the dense, spiky foliage that literally explodes fiery red before turning to shiny deep green. These highly aromatic flowers will not only give colour to the garden but also attract pollinators, thus increasing biodiversity in the garden space. Following the flowers are blue-black clusters of berries beloved by birds, adding interest from fall into winter.

Ideal for a low-maintenance landscape, 'Volcano' works perfectly as a specimen plant or in borders to create a woodland garden. The plant is best grown under partial sun to full sun and the best soil-drained conditions, although it is quite adaptable to other kinds of soils. Excellent for providing year-round structural interest to smaller gardens or spaces, the compact and bushy growth habit is displayed.
