Melon Plant 'Emir'

Product ref: VEG28757

Availability: In stock

Melon ‘Emir’ is a superb early-fruiting melon variety that produces attractive oval fruits with pale cream to golden-beige netted skin and wonderfully sweet, juicy flesh. Beneath its lightly textured rind lies soft orange flesh packed with refreshing flavour and a rich aroma, making it perfect for summer fruit salads, desserts, smoothies, or simply enjoyed fresh from the garden. Its reliable cropping and excellent eating quality have made it a favourite among home growers.

As a warmth-loving crop, ‘Emir’ performs best in consistently warm conditions and is ideally grown in a greenhouse, polytunnel, conservatory, or a sheltered south-facing garden position. Plant in fertile, moisture-retentive soil and provide regular watering throughout the growing season, taking care not to let plants dry out while fruits are developing. Feed weekly with a high-potash fertiliser once flowering begins and pinch back excessive growth to help direct energy into fruit production. Harvest when the fruits develop a sweet fragrance, and their skin takes on a creamy golden hue.

Melons are one of the most rewarding summer crops, producing delicious sun-ripened fruits with flavour far superior to many shop-bought alternatives.

Supplied in approx. 9cm pots.
