Miscanthus sinensis Red Chief

Miscanthus sinensis 'Red Chief' is a fantastic clump-forming, larger grass with arching narrow leaves that will shade yellow in autumn before to autumnal shades and finally straw brown winter. In summer it throws up feathery flower plumes of deep maroon red and these last in to early autumn, before fading to silver. These persist over the plant in to winter creating a wonderful effect once jack frost has done his work. Great for structure, and combined with other late summer and autumn interest plants such as Echinacea and Sedum.
